Sam Pitroda Resigns: Sam Pitroda, who was recently embroiled in controversies by making racial remarks, has resigned from the post of President of the Indian Overseas Congress. Congress immediately accepted his resignation. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has given information about this while posting on X.

While posting on X, Jairam Ramesh said that Sam Pitroda has resigned from this post on his own will. He wrote, ‘Sam Pitroda has decided to resign from the post of President of Indian Overseas Congress on his own will. The Congress President has accepted his resignation.

Sam Pitroda had come under BJP’s target by making racial statements

Jairam Ramesh has not given the reason for Sam Pitroda’s resignation in his ex-post. However, his resignation has come after the uproar created by his recent racial remarks. On Wednesday, an interview of Pitroda came out in which he had said that the Indians living in the eastern areas of India look like Chinese people and the South Indian people look like African people. After this statement, Bharatiya Janata Party fiercely attacked Pitroda, on which Congress had to give clarification and the party distanced itself from Pitroda’s statement.

People of North East were hurt by Pitroda’s statement – Meghalaya CM

Pitroda’s statement was termed as unfortunate by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. He said that this has hurt the sentiments of the people of North East and other parts of the country. Conrad Sangma said that the use of such derogatory language by senior Congress party leaders shows discriminatory attitude. He said that this statement has hurt the sentiments of the people of North East, hence whatever he (Pitroda) says, no matter in what context he has spoken, it is not right.

The Meghalaya Chief Minister further said, ‘Our country is a country of diversity and the principle of the country is based on the diversity of our people whether it is in culture or appearance… this is what makes India what it is. .”

What did Sam Pitroda say, which created an uproar?

Talking about India in a podcast interview, Sam Pitroda said, ‘We can keep a diverse country like India united. While the people of the East look like Chinese people, the people of the West look like Arabs, the people of the North look like whites and the South Indians look like Africans. He further said, ‘It doesn’t matter, we are all sisters and brothers. In India, people of different regions have different customs, food, religion, language, but the people of India respect each other.
