Maruti Suzuki's SUV Dominance: Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara

Maruti Suzuki: The SUV segment in Maruti Suzuki has seen a seismic shift, largely attributed to the triumvirate of Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara. These three models have emerged as the driving force behind the company’s SUV dominance, commanding the top sales in the SUV market. While Fronx made its mark this year, Grand Vitara was introduced last year, and Brezza, initially launched in 2016, witnessed a facelift version released last year. All three have garnered tremendous responses from consumers, signaling a pivotal moment for Maruti Suzuki in the SUV segment. However, challenges loom regarding waiting periods, prompting Maruti to revamp its production strategies.

Production Expansion: Easing Waiting Periods

Expanding production has proven instrumental for Maruti Suzuki in alleviating the waiting periods for Grand Vitara and Brezza. Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director (Marketing and Sales) at Maruti Suzuki India Limited, highlighted, “The waiting period for Grand Vitara has reduced from 5 months to 2.5 months. Similarly, the waiting period for Brezza has dropped to 1 month from the previous 4.5 months. The waiting period for Fronx, which was around 3.5 months before, is now the same.”

He further shared, “Brezza sees sales of approximately 14,000 to 15,000 units per month, while Grand Vitara records sales ranging from 11,000 to 12,000 units monthly. Additionally, Fronx sees an average monthly sale of 13,500 units, while expectations for Jimni sales hover around 4,000 to 5,000 units this month. Looking at these SUV sales figures, it’s anticipated that the total sales in this segment will surpass 45,000 units per month.”

Pricing Details: Brezza, Fronx, and Grand Vitara

The price range for Brezza spans from INR 8.29 lakhs to 14.14 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). Fronx, on the other hand, is priced between INR 7.46 lakhs to 13.14 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), while Grand Vitara commands a price range of INR 10.70 lakhs to 19.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The competitive pricing strategies of these SUV models have contributed significantly to Maruti Suzuki’s strong foothold in the market. With consistently high sales figures and a strategic focus on production expansion to mitigate waiting periods, Maruti Suzuki seems poised to maintain its SUV dominance in the foreseeable future.
