Modi Government Implements Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) Just Before Lok Sabha Elections

Modi Government: In a strategic move just before the Lok Sabha elections, the Modi government has implemented the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Following the issuance of notifications from the Ministry of Home Affairs, this law has come into effect nationwide from March 11th.

Understanding the Delay in Implementation

The question arises: Why did it take so many years to implement a law passed by the Modi government back in 2019? The BJP has responded to this query. According to Jamal Siddiqui, the National President of the BJP Minority Morcha, speaking with the ABP Digital team, this delay is a welcome and sensible step taken by the Modi government.

Addressing Concerns and Misconceptions

Siddiqui emphasizes that the Modi government has shown respect to persecuted individuals coming from neighboring countries by granting them citizenship. He explains that there were hindrances caused by some individuals who wanted to create obstacles in the implementation of this law. Certain factions aimed to manipulate the narrative for political gain, attempting to sway Muslims against the law. However, upon understanding that this law facilitates citizenship rather than endangering it, the hesitancy dissipated.

Fostering Understanding and Harmony

Siddiqui asserts that the Muslim community now comprehends that the CAA poses no threat to them. This realization is a cause for celebration and signifies progress towards unity and inclusivity. It took time for this understanding to permeate, but with the efforts led by Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the nation now rejoices in this milestone.

Missed Opportunities in the Past

Reflecting on past administrations, Siddiqui points out that for nearly 50 years, it was primarily Congress and opposition parties in power who had the opportunity to enact such legislation but failed to do so. He regrets the lost opportunities during their tenure. Siddiqui underlines that if Muslims are safest anywhere, it’s in India. Therefore, any notion of Muslims being against Hindus is unfounded. Today, if Muslims in India experience contentment, it’s largely due to the inclusive policies upheld by Hindus.
