During the hearing on Arvind Kejriwal’s petition in the Supreme Court, Delhi Chief Minister’s senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi argued that I had responded to all the 9 summons. I always asked the investigating agency what was my role, a witness or an accused? On behalf of Kejriwal, it was said in the Supreme Court that my role was not decided till my arrest.
Arguing on behalf of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was arrested in the Delhi liquor scam case, Singhvi said that the ED has shown the same evidence against Manish Sisodia against me as well. Singhvi said that the evidence on the basis of which I have been arrested is all from the end of 2023. Every material is of July 2023 only. The same evidence was used in the case of Manish Sisodia in which the money trail chart was also the same.
I was not an accused till March 16: Singhvi’s argument
Singhvi said that see ED’s reply of January 12. It says that if someone has been summoned, it does not mean that he is an accused. Until all the evidence is collected and charges are filed. The last summons came on 16 March, in which they were asked to come on 21 March. That is, I was not an accused till March 16, so what happened suddenly after that?
The Supreme Court said that any person who is in charge of the company. If any offense is committed by the company then you will be liable along with the company. Justice Khanna – If any person is in overall charge of the company, then he is indirectly liable to the company. Then you have to show that it was done without your knowledge.
