In the midst of political upheavals triggered by controversial statements, BJP Member of Parliament Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, representing Bhopal, asserted that she has never made any contentious remarks despite her absence from the BJP’s initial list of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. She emphasizes that what is true will remain true, and as a sannyasi (ascetic), she does not dwell in deceit but rather speaks straightforwardly.
Modi’s Displeasure: A Ticket Cut Due to Alleged Reasons?
Responding to queries on whether her ticket was revoked due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dissatisfaction, Sadhvi Pragya, in an interview with a Hindi news channel, reiterated, “I have assessed and found that I have never made any controversial statements. What I have said is the truth. If speaking the truth is wrong in politics, then I believe injecting honesty into politics should be embraced. It will depict India’s evolving political integrity.”
“I have spoken the truth, and it takes courage,” affirmed Pragya Singh Thakur.
According to Sadhvi Pragya, “I am committed to the pure act of conveying what is true to enlighten society. It was widely accepted that I was right in my path. Though my assessments may differ, the public also evaluates. The truth is, during public assessment, I was deemed correct. I spoke the truth. It takes courage, which no one dares in politics.”
Refuting Political Coloration: Sadhvi Pragya’s Firm Stance
Further, she stated, “The definition of truth is always timely, and what holds true in the national context will always remain so. Sannyasis maintain their integrity to unveil the truth. They do not reside in entanglements. In politics, some individuals color everything politically, but I believe I dilute even their colors because enduring the truth will be your shared experience. Assigning political hues is indicative of their malicious and tainted mentality. We never resort to such sentiments. Calling it a controversial statement is Congress’ stunt. They resort to it because they lack substantial issues.”
BJP MP Affirms: No Intention to Cause Discomfort to PM
Pragya Singh Thakur also claimed, “All these things (in reference to statements) serve as a weapon for the opposition to attack the BJP. They started targeting the BJP on this basis. I have never made any controversial statements before. However, it is certain that our standards may have slipped in some way, and for that, I had already apologized to Prime Minister Modi. We never intend to harm anyone. I never had any intention to cause discomfort to him (PM). I have never caused any discomfort.”
Congress Crosses Limits: Sadhvi Pragya Accuses
Sadhvi Pragya accused, “I never uttered such words, but the way Congress indulged in character assassination by hurling abuses at Prime Minister Modi, orchestrating protests, and gathering people, thus violating his dignity and the dignity of his position, is something the BJP has never done. It was the Congress that breached boundaries.”
