The comment made by the Prime Minister during a rally in Banswara, Rajasthan, on Sunday (April 21, 2024) has stirred up political controversy. After the comment about “redistribution of wealth” during an election rally, several opposition leaders, including Asaduddin Owaisi and Mallikarjun Kharge, have criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Reacting to the Prime Minister’s speech, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted, “Modi today called Muslims infiltrators and said many people with children. From 2002 till today, Modi’s only guarantee has been to abuse Muslims and get votes. If someone is talking about the country’s wealth, then they should know that in Modi’s rule, the first right on India’s wealth has gone to his wealthy friends. 1% of Indians own 40% of the country’s wealth. Common Hindus are scared of Muslims while their wealth is being used to make others rich.”
Accusing the Prime Minister, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that no Prime Minister in India’s history has demeaned the dignity of his position as much as Modi. Kharge said on Sunday, “Today, it is evident from Modi ji’s frustrated speech that I.N.D.I.A is winning the first phase. What Modi ji said is definitely a hate-filled speech, but it’s also a deliberate attempt to divert attention. What the RSS has trained for, the Prime Minister has done. Lying for power, giving wrong context to things, and making false accusations against opponents are specialties of the Sangh and BJP’s training.”
Rahul Gandhi commented on PM Modi’s speech, saying, “There is immense support emerging for Congress’s revolutionary manifesto. The country will now vote for its issues, its employment, its families, and its future. India’s attention will not be diverted.”
Trinamool Congress MP Saikat Gokhale urged people to use their power and file complaints against the Prime Minister’s speech. He said, “The Election Commission overlooks the opposition and continues to give Modi and BJP free rein. During elections, the Election Commission is not accountable to political parties, but they are accountable to the people of India.”
Congress Secretary-General Jairam Ramesh also criticized Modi, saying that instead of answering any questions on issues related to youth, women, farmers, Dalits, and backward classes, the Prime Minister shamelessly lied during his rallies in Rajasthan. Congress’s head of media and publicity department, Pawan Khera, also accused the Prime Minister of lying.
