According to IMD, this new western disturbance is expected to be more potent compared to previous ones, impacting both the western Himalayan states and the plains of northwest India.

Snowfall Estimates in the Himalayan States

IMD suggests that heavy snowfall could occur in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand on March 1 and 2. March 2 is particularly highlighted for heightened alert, with a higher chance of increased precipitation. Additionally, alerts have been issued for possible hailstorms in these mountainous states.

Looking ahead to the next three days in Punjab and Haryana, precipitation is also anticipated. According to the meteorological department, heavy rainfall is possible in Punjab on March 2, while Haryana may experience moderate rainfall on March 1 and 2. Moreover, some parts of these states might witness hailstorms. Between March 2 and 3, strong winds, along with the possibility of dust storms and thunderstorms, are expected, with wind speeds reaching 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.

Forecast for Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan

Between March 1 and 2, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan are also expected to experience rainfall and possible hailstorms in several areas. Meanwhile, northern parts of Maharashtra may witness hailstorms as early as today (February 29). Strong winds and the likelihood of dust storms and thunderstorms are anticipated in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, with these conditions persisting until March 4.
