Mumbai News: In view of the Lok Sabha elections, Mumbai Metro has decided to give discount in tickets on the day of voting. Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited has announced this on Friday (May 3). Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) announced a 10 per cent discount on tickets for passengers on May 20, when the city will vote in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
According to a release issued by Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL), passengers traveling on Metro Line 2A and Line 7 can avail 10 percent discount on the day of voting. Voting for general elections will be held on Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai on May 20.
Metro ticket discount to promote voting
According to PTI report, Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited operates Metro Line 2A between Andheri (West) and Dahisar (East) and Line 7 between Dahisar (East) and Andheri (East). The release said that this initiative will promote voting through Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program to encourage metro passengers to fulfill their civic duty and vote in elections.
10% discount on metro base fare
To travel in the metro, passengers can use Mumbai One Card, Paper QR and Paper Ticket. It said that polling stations can avail 10 per cent discount on base fare on their return journey after polling. Let us tell you that the fifth and final phase of nomination for Lok Sabha elections 2024 in Maharashtra is on Friday.
There are total 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra. The Election Commission is conducting voting in five different phases in the state. In Maharashtra, voting has taken place on 5 Lok Sabha election seats in the first phase and 8 in the second phase.
