Voting for the 5th phase of Lok Sabha elections started on Monday (20 May). In this phase, voting is being held on 49 seats of 8 states including Amethi-Rae Bareli. Before voting, Congress candidate from Amethi KL Sharma said, if the public has supported well then the result should also be good.
Amethi has been a stronghold of Congress. This time KL Sharma, close to the Gandhi family, is contesting from Amethi. KL Sharma said, whatever is in the minds of the people, they will vote today and the results will come on 4th. When people start contesting elections, things change. Because you cannot make false promises to the public. The development of the people which has stopped will be started. Rahul Gandhi ji said that whatever happens in Rae Bareli will happen in Amethi, this has given me a lot of strength.
Political mathematics of Amethi
Amethi seat is considered a stronghold of Congress. Sanjay Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were MPs from here. Congress won this seat every time except 1977, 1998 and 2019. Smriti Irani defeated Rahul Gandhi in the 2019 elections. This time Rahul Gandhi is contesting from Rae Bareli. Congress has fielded KL Sharma from this seat.
