In a recent unfortunate incident in Noida, an accident involving Tata Altroz resulted in the tragic death of one engineer, while two others sustained severe injuries. The accident occurred last Sunday night (February 25, 2024) as they were returning from an office party. This incident might raise questions regarding the safety of Tata Altroz. Let’s delve into the safety performance of Tata Altroz as assessed by the Global New Car Assessment Programme (Global NCAP) and explore its safety ratings.

Global NCAP Crash Test Results

Global NCAP conducted crash tests on Tata Altroz in 2020, where Altroz showcased commendable performance. The crash test awarded Tata Altroz a 5-star safety rating for adults and a 3-star safety rating for child occupants. The car scored 16.13 out of 17 points for adult protection and 29 out of 49 points for child protection. This places Tata Altroz among the safest budget cars in the country.

Safety Features and Performance

During the crash tests, both the driver and passenger received adequate safety for their heads and necks. The chest of the driver and passenger also received sufficient protection, along with good safety for their knees. The car exhibited a stable body shell capable of withstanding impacts, along with a stable full-width area. The tested model was equipped with two airbags and a 4-channel ABS.

Price Range and Variants

Tata Altroz comes with a price range varying from ₹6.65 lakhs to ₹10.80 lakhs (ex-showroom). It offers options of a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine, and a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine. Additionally, an option for CNG kit with the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine is available.

Market Competition

In the market, Tata Altroz competes with models like Toyota Glanza, Maruti Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Maruti Swift. However, Maruti Baleno and Maruti Swift tend to lead in sales among these models.
