Box Office Disappointment: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s “Lal Salaam” Struggles Despite Star-Studded Cast

The much-anticipated return of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to the director’s chair after an eight-year hiatus with her latest release film “Lal Salaam” has left audiences underwhelmed. Starring Aishwarya’s father and superstar Rajnikanth in an extended cameo, alongside performances by Vishu Vishal and Vikrant in the lead roles, the sports drama failed to capture the hearts of moviegoers even eight days after its release. Let’s delve into the disappointing box office performance of “Lal Salaam” on its eighth day since release.

Lackluster Box Office Figures

“Lal Salaam” hit the theaters on February 9th to a lukewarm response, with an opening collection of 3.55 crore rupees. Despite hopes of a weekend surge, the film witnessed a downward trend in earnings each passing day. By the end of its first week, “Lal Salaam” managed a meager collection of just 15.08 crore rupees. As the film entered its eighth day, the initial box office numbers for Friday’s earnings were discouraging.

Box Office Collection on the Eighth Day

According to early trends reported by Sakinalc, “Lal Salaam” amassed a mere 27 lakhs on its eighth day since release, bringing its total eight-day collection to 15.35 crore rupees. This figure further emphasizes the disappointing performance of the film at the box office.

The Downward Spiral

The lackluster performance of “Lal Salaam” at the box office has left much to be desired. With each passing day, the film struggles to attract audiences, and it seems that the curtains may soon close on its theatrical run after just eight days. Ticket sales have dwindled, and the prospects of a turnaround appear bleak.

A Sports Drama with a Message of Harmony

It’s worth noting that “Lal Salaam” is not just a sports drama but also carries a significant message of religious harmony. Produced by Laika Productions, the film features an ensemble cast including Vishu Vishal, Vikrant, and Rajnikanth, with supporting roles portrayed by Livingstone, Senthil, Jeevitha, KS Ravikumar, Thambi Ramaiah, and Vivek Prasanna. Cricket legend Kapil Dev also makes a cameo appearance in the film. The screenplay is penned by Vishnu Rangasamy, with music by AR Rahman and editing by Praveen KL.
