Sanjay Singh’s emergence in the Indian Wrestling Federation (WFI) elections has sparked a whirlwind of controversy. Securing the initial 40 votes, he was elected as the President of WFI last Thursday (December 21) and, within a day, the wrestling federation was suspended. Not only were all decisions made by Sanjay Singh halted, but his ascension to the presidency also led wrestler Sakshi Malik to announce her retirement from wrestling. Malik expressed dismay, stating that as soon as someone else, namely Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, assumed the presidency of the wrestling federation, she made her decision. Meanwhile, wrestler Bajrang Punia placed his Padma Shri medal in front of the Prime Minister’s residence and composed a letter. In response to the wrestlers’ stance, the government suspended the new wrestling federation. With Sanjay Singh stepping into the presidency, let’s delve deeper into who he is.
